Rudy Giuliani Returns to Podcast After Car Crash: ‘It Hurts’

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani returned to his show in a harness on Tuesday after being released from the hospital following a severe car crash.

“I like this outfit. This may become permanent,” said Giuliani on America’s Mayor Live.

After Giuliani’s co-host Ted Goodman replied, “It is similar to football equipment, if you’ve played hockey or football or one of those sports,” Giuliani declared, “I was thinking more like a gladiator, you know?”

The former mayor then played a gladiator song on his iPad while pounding his chest.

Giuliani and Goodmen then recalled the series of events that led up to their accident on Saturday evening.

“On Saturday night, Ted and I were in an accident and other things. Other things meaning an interruption of a domestic violence situation,” said Giuliani, adding:

A terrible accident where I was injured pretty badly. He got shook up somewhat, but I’ve got a permanent– not a permanent, but one that has to be resolved over a period of time injury. In a hospital for a couple of days. But we’re out, we’re doing our show, and God was very, very good to us. He looked after us and made sure that everything worked out okay. And we did the right thing so we can feel good about ourselves and we can be an example for other people of what they should do, which is what Jesus wants you to do.

After being waved down by a woman on the side of the road while driving, Giuliani and Goodman pulled over to offer their assistance.

“Just evaluating her, obviously I looked at her very, very carefully, and professional instincts kick in. So you watch every single thing about her,” said Giuliani, who recalled that the woman said she was being attacked.

“The mayor did invite her in the car. I didn’t like that,” continued Goodman. “But you know the mayor. Come on, this is Mayor Rudy Giuliani.”

After calling police officers to the scene, Giuliani and Goodman discovered that it was actually the woman who had attacked her partner, who had to be placed in an ambulance.

The two men were then given the OK by police to leave, only for their car to be hit by another vehicle from behind shortly after while driving home.

“The whiplash of my body was brutal,” said Giuliani. “The pain was excruciating.”

On the woman who crashed into their car from behind, Giuliani added that he “felt very sorry for her” and hoped she would not be charged.

“I don’t think she’s a bad actor here at all,” he insisted. “If you say she was driving fast, everybody in New Hampshire drives fast. I’m sorry. She wasn’t driving any faster than anybody else. Was she driving too fast? Probably. But I’m not gonna hold that against her. How could she know?”

Giuliani advised, “I would tell her as a lawyer, don’t make a statement about this,” before declaring, “I would be very upset if they charged her, and I would stop it. I would do everything I could. I wouldn’t even testify against her. I just think the woman made a mistake.”

Reacting to social media users who celebrated the accident, Giuliani concluded, “The Democrats are happy that I’m in a certain amount of pain. It hurts. I’m gonna tell the Democrats that. If you guys wanna get a little lust, bloodlust, this was really painful, guys. You know, you never did any pain to me like this. I could always handle your pain because you’re a bunch of phony bastards. Boy, are you terrible. Are you Democrats terrible.”
